Did you know Montana is among the highest in the nation in workplace accidents and fatalities? The high accident ranking is believed to be a symptom of Montana’s safety culture. Growing a Safer Montana (GSM) is our two-part initiative, designed to improve Montana’s workplace safety culture through the education of young workers.

High School Safety Equipment Awards The first part of GSM is an award program for personal protective equipment (PPE) for Montana middle and high school industrial arts programs.

College Scholarships The second part of GSM is a scholarship program for higher education focused on students entering occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene or trades and industrial studies. Growing a Safer Montana etches the importance of workplace safety into the minds of students before they enter Montana’s workforce, thereby helping make Montana a safer and healthier place to live, work and do business.
