Setting up your program and informing employees takes far less time and work than you might think. First, download and use these few forms—tools for getting your program going and explaining it to employees. Most of this information can be copied and handed out.

Tell Your Employees About the Program

Communicating effectively with your employees is a critical element of your program's success. Employees need to understand the multiple benefits the program offers both themselves and the company. Here are a few ideas to ensure employees understand the benefits and their role in making your program a success.

Involve your employees in the planning. If there is a union, invite them to participate.
Announce the program at a company meeting or through a company event.
Assign a point person or team to take ownership of the program's management and success.
Distribute an overview of the program specifically for employees.
Include RTW information in your company's policy manual.
Hang copies of the RTW posters in break rooms and common areas.
Conduct training sessions for supervisors so they understand their role.
Make sure employees have access to RTW policies.
Remind employees about the program in company newsletters and other communications. For example, announce successful RTW stories.

Communication Tools
