Montana State Fund’s Montana Small Business Group Program
Montana's 2009 legislature authorized the creation of a small business safety group (SB 192). This group will be comprised of small businesses who show a commitment to safety in the workplace. Members can earn a return of premium, depending on the overall safety performance of the group. The program will officially launch on July 1, 2010.

To be eligible to join the small business group, your company must:
  • Have a comprehensive, written workplace safety program in place for more than one year;
  • Have a written transitional and return to work program;
  • Have a three-year history of no losses;
Your policy may be eligible for this new group. The required programs must be implemented a year in advance. So for example, if your policy expires on July 1, 2010 then you must have the above requirements implemented by July 1, 2009. If your policy expires on August 1, 2010 then you must have the requirements implemented by August 1, 2009. If your policy expires on September 1, 2010 then you must have the requirements implemented by September 1, 2009 and so on. You get the picture?

Now that you have completed your Safety Plan/Return to Work program use it at your business. It will not be necessary for you to present it to Montana State Fund. MSF will send program applications to eligible companies in 2010.

The forms below are already included in the Safety Program/Return to Work templates above; however, we also wanted to provide them for your convenience.
